How does your naturopathic doctor treat my health concerns?
Your naturopathic doctor will take the time for a full health history, and suggest certain functional tests that can identify hormone imbalance, nutrient deficiencies, sources of inflammation, and microbial overgrowth.  The results of these tests guide the ND to create a personalized protocol to address any underlying problems that can be affecting your full health potential.  Addressing these concerns can stimulate your body’s natural healing ability, and help to reach your health goals.

How many visits can I expect?
Each body system is a part of the whole system.  That means, you can’t treat the foot by itself, when it’s actually part of the whole body.  Your naturopathic doctor will create a personalized plan to reach your immediate health goals, but it can take time for full system balance if there are multiple issues at hand.  For example, your naturopathic doctor could help you with conception by recommending a detox, followed by digestive healing, hormone balancing, and stress reduction.  She may do this through certain tests, or dietary changes, with the support of herbs and supplements, or using acupuncture, and hypnotherapy.  Depending on the protocol, your naturopathic doctor may need as few as 3 sessions, or as many as 2 sessions a week for 3 months in the case of acupuncture.

Why does she need so much time?
Young children may only need a few naturopathic visits before their issues are resolved, because they have less lifestyle influences and toxins involved.  In contrast, people with a chronic concern may need months of treatment in order to return to a past state of health.

What makes naturopathic medicine different from the conventional model?
Adding naturopathic care to your current health model ensures that a licensed health professional trained in natural and preventative medicine can enhance the services you receive.  You will learn how different lifestyle choices can be affecting your health, and natural solutions that help the whole body.  Your ND will be happy to discuss your treatment plan with your other health care providers.
